Shooting To The Top

Team GB – Grandad Inspired Olympic Dream with Amber Hill

Video Production isn’t all about big budget shoots with a huge cast and crew. When it comes to social media, content is king and it is crucial that your channels are regularly refreshed with new content that will engage and entertain your viewers and followers.

The piece of video content that Fresh Cut created about Amber & Grandad for Team GB demonstrates perfectly why a big media spend isn’t always necessary. With a good story to tell and some high quality film and photography, a simple interview and accompanying cutaway shots can be more than enough to capture an audience’s imagination.

The Story

Since watching the 2012 Olympic Games in London, there has only been one dream for Olympic Skeet Shooter Amber Hill: to win Olympic Gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Amber was inspired by her grandad to take up the sport at the age of 9, and he has been by her side ever since. We had the opportunity to interview Amber and her grandad side-by-side at her local skeet shooting range, and we knew there was an opportunity to capture a story that would resonate with people all over the world.

The interview did not disappoint, and we were delighted to be able to capture the bond between grandfather and granddaughter, and the passion they shared for their sport.

The Approach

We kept costs to a minimum by sending one camera operator along to the pre-arranged press event at Amber’s local shooting range. Two hours, one interview and a cutaway sequence later, and off they headed into the picturesque mid-morning mist.

How about the results?
